Worst Week in Washington

By Chris Cillizza Winning one title - in sports, moviesor politics - is tough. Winning back-to-back titles is infinitelymore difficult. Everyone is gunning for you. You have to up yourefforts to get back to the top.

Which brings us to Rep. Anthony Weiner.

One week removed from a disastrous series of media sit-downs inwhich he was unable to say "with certitude" whether a picture of aman's underwear-clad groin posted on his Twitter feed was in fact ofhim, the New York Democrat managed to outdo himself. (And, no, wedidn't think that was possible.)

In a news conference Monday that was equal parts media circus andslow-the-car-down-to-watch-it train wreck, Weiner admitted that yes,the private parts on display in the photo were his, and yes, he hadmeant to send the picture to a college student in the Seattle arearather than posting it for all to see.

But he didn't stop there. Weiner also acknowledged"inappropriate" online relationships with as many as six women andrefused to answer questions about whether X-rated photos of him werefloating around the Internet. (Hint: There are.)

Did we mention that conservative provocateur Andrew Breitbart, who originally posted the lewd pic of Weiner on his BigGovernmentsite, took to the lectern before the chastened congressman did, demanding an apology from those on the ideological left who hadinsisted he had hacked Weiner's accounts?

Just when the saga couldn't get any more dramatic, the news camelate Wednesday that Weiner's wife, longtime Hillary Rodham Clintonaide Huma Abedin, is pregnant with the couple's first child -proving once again that truth is far, far stranger than fiction.

Anthony Weiner, for coming clean about dirty pictures, you hadthe worst week in Washington. Again. Congrats, or something.
