SA: SA ALP confident of winning key regional seat at election
ADELAIDE, April 24 AAP - South Australian Labor leader Mike Rann expects to win the
key regional seat of Frome at the next state election after naming his candidate for the
seat today.
Mr Rann announced John Rohde, a long-time resident in the electorate, encompassing
SA's Yorke Peninsula, had been preselected as the ALP candidate.
"Frome is a regional seat which Labor is confident of winning," Mr Rann said today
in a statement.
"It is currently held by the Liberals with a margin of just 3.4 per cent.
"But we are aware of a great deal of anger in the region (created) by the Liberal's
agenda of privatisation and everything that has resulted from that."
He described Mr Rohde, president of the Port Pirie sub-branch of the ALP, as "someone
who understands the battlers".
Frome is currently held by Deputy Premier and Primary Industries Minister Rob Kerin.
The next state election must be held by May next year.
